Today I discovered that the Village Hat Shop (one of my favorite online stores, even though living in Switzerland means that I usually ogle rather than buy) has 193 plates online from R. Turner Wilcox’s The Mode in Hats and Headdress (1945). You can check ‘em all out here. It’s fascinating just to browse through, and I’m sure a great reference for anyone researching European period dress (there are a couple of chapters on ancient civilization as well, though nothing further East than the Byzantine).

Definitely check out Village Hat Shop’s entire hat information section, too! Lots of articles about different kinds of hats and their role in society/culture, how hats are made, how to choose and care for the right hat, etc.

Heh. It’s probably a good thing I don’t live in the US, actually, otherwise this site would get far more of my money (and closet space) than I could afford.
